US Open Tennis Championship

It's time for tennis again! This week begins the 2014 US Open tournament, the last major before the excitement returns to Melbourne in January. If you're a tennis fan, the next few weeks will be a lot of fun! Between Women's, Men's, Double's and Junior's there are a total of 24 Australians playing in the US Open this year, so you should definitely be able to find someone to pull for!

Maybe watching the tournament in will inspire you to get outside and hit a few balls yourself? Find a partner, or hit by yourself! Or you could also improve your tennis swing swatting at flies. I have one of these…they are great.

Rafael Nadal is out this year, so who is your favourite to win? As I'm writing this, the current No. 1 ranked Novac Djokovic is absolutely destroying his first round apponent, and is looking strong as usual. Roger Federer, ranked No. 2 is set for his first round match tomorrow against Marinko Matosevic. Good luck Marinko…you're going to need it. Despite not winning a major since 2012, Federer has had a great year. He's my pick, and personal favourite.

On the women's side, No. 1 Ranked Serena Williams is ready to fight her way to a potential 18th major. Yes, 18th! Her first round match is against a rising star, 17 year old Taylor Townsend. Who do you think will win? Answer my question!
