Retrosweat founder Shannon Dooley, a qualified fitness instructor and NIDA graduate, fronts one of the fastest-growing workout trends in the inner west. Kitted out in hot-pink Reebok Classics, white legwarmers and a striking bodysuit and crop top combo, Dooley looks like the picture-perfect ’80s icon. Modelling herself on the queens of home video fitness – from Jane Fonda to ‘Physical’ poster girl Olivia Newton-John – our instructor adopts a Workout Barbie pose at the head of the class.

Melbourne – St Kilda Festival 2015

Every year since 1980, St Kilda Festival has been a giant celebration of Aussie and local musical talent. It's also a good excuse for a beverage with your mates. A lot of the St Kilda main drag shuts down to open things up for food stalls and concerts at a heap of locations. The 2015 festival also includes circus, workshops, comedy and visual arts, so there's something for everyone and its free: win, win. We learned this the hard way – wear sunscreen and sensible shoes.

Brisbane – SUBLIME

This exhibition presents a variety of awe-inspiring, baffling and wonderful works that represent a broad range of ways in which artists engage with the idea of the 'sublime' – from the man-made to the natural world, and the abstract realms of mathematics and geometry. Artists featured include Anish Kapoor, Zilvinas Kempinas, Timo Nasseri, Oskar Fischinger and Michael Sailstorfer.
